Source of musical inspiration: David

Context of the sound: ceremonial music, music of the Law, scholarly music

Comment: The soldiers defending the gates sound the trumpet (sound signal, accompaniment to war). This King David is a Christ-like figure who orders the world. Music is the means by which David imposes order on the city according to the law of Yahweh, and he announces the victory of the Messiah over the disorder of the world (function of music in the image “order”). Under the inspiration of David, the musicians play in harmony (consonance). On the frontispiece of the book of Psalms, the representation of David and the musicians evokes the ceremonies around the ark of the covenant.
