: The illustration is at the place of Guyart des Moulins' prologue for the book of Genesis. It represents the Trinitarian God proceeding with the creation of the soul. The three persons of the Trinity are clearly distinguished in a horizontal representation with the Father in the middle, crowned with a tiara, the Son on his right, and an anthropomorphic Holy Spirit on his left. The illustration is not directly related to the content of the text of the folio, but more to the text of Genesis that follows, although the text of the folio includes a mention of the soul: "The soul of the righteous man has him for a room, for he rests in li and is with the threads of men, and according to this he is called espous, and the soul of the just man is the wife. »

Number of performers: 6

Organization of visual space involving performance: On either side of the central stage.

Interactions between performers: Two sets of three perfmorators. No visual interaction between them.

Relative position of the performer(s) and the written support in the image: The perforators are included in the scene of the illumination, above the text it illustrates.

Music coordination markers: All the performers are in action, witnessing the scene.

Comment: The direction of the glances is individualized (specific to each musician).

Function of the sound: accompaniment, glorification, message, prophecy

Instrumental classification: hauts and bas instruments

Source of musical inspiration: God

Context of the sound: celestial music, angelic music

Contextual relation: The illustration is not directly related to the content of the text of the folio but more to the text of Genesis which follows, although the text of the folio includes a mention of the soul ("The soul of the righteous man has him for a room, for he delights in lying in himself and in being with the sons of men, and according to this he is the wife of the wives, and the soul of the just man is the wife of the righteous man"). The six musical angels and their various cordophone and aerophone instruments accompany here the creative action of the Trinitarian God with their heavenly music. Also noteworthy are the very many angels (non-musicians) whose only faces and a pair of wings are depicted and who occupy the entire background of the illustration; they depict the heavenly spheres filled with countless angels standing by the throne of God (Ap 5:11; 7:11).

Comment: The instrumentalists are placed at the height and in the background of the divine scene, enveloping it with their music.

Formal: Bipartition of the scene: sky/earth.

Chromatic: Predominance of tones - azure (smalt and lower lapis) : symbol of the mystery of divine life and the view of heaven ; - gules (minium): symbol of power and triumph.

Mathematical: Predominance of the number three, echoing the Holy Trinity: - two groups of three angels; - the figure of God surrounded by two saints; - articulation on three planes (angels/God/lower stage).

Comment: The "sustained" and symbolic shades are used in the upper part of the illumination.
